Allegri: 'Milan OK, considering...'

Milan have just two points from three Serie A games, but Massimiliano Allegri is adamant he’s “happy considering we’ve got no strikers.”

The reigning champions have had a dreadful start to the campaign, drawing with Lazio and Udinese at San Siro, while losing 3-1 in Naples.

“Looking at the table, I can only think we have two points. What else am I supposed to think?” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia after tonight’s 1-1 result.

“Milan had a good game and the lads deserved this point, creating many scoring opportunities and only risking on the counter-attack at the end.

“I am happy with what the team is doing. At this moment in time, this will do. After an unlucky goal and Alexandre Pato’s injury, we could’ve let our heads drop, but instead we reacted well.

“After the three goals conceded from Napoli, we were more careful in defence and held our concentration better.”

Pato limped off in the opening stages, joining the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robinho, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Massimo Ambrosini, Gennaro Gattuso, Daniele Bonera and Luca Antonini on the treatment table.

However, substitute Stephan El Shaarawy came off the bench to score his debut Serie A goal.

“Without Pato, we had no more centre-forwards, so had to adapt with Alberto Aquilani, Antonio Cassano and towards the end Urby Emanuelson who were taking that role in turn.

“We hope it’s nothing serious for Pato, but El Shaarawy did well when he was called upon. At the moment we have 12 players out injured and haven’t got a single striker, so I am amazed people can criticise or doubt I can hold on to the bench.”
