Thiago Silva: 'I was nervous!'

Thiago Silva admits he was “a bit nervous, certainly” when nodding in Milan’s last-gasp equaliser in Barcelona.

“I was a bit nervous, certainly,” he said after his header from Clarence Seedorf’s corner kick, securing the 2-2 draw at the Nou Camp.

“We worked hard on this in training, so in the end found an important goal. Now we have to keep this level of calm, as on Sunday we face another great squad like Napoli.”

Barcelona are European champions and the undisputed best side around right now, but Thiago Silva notes Milan had a game plan.

“We didn’t only hope to win here, but also at San Siro. It’s important to keep calm and we know that we made a lot of mistakes today, especially when defending, but the two goals were crucial.

“It is always difficult to play in the Champions League, but we have just started and hope to slowly improve. It’s the most important competition for a player.”
